World Games Roller Sports Schedule 2022 TV Guide, Live-Stream Info: The eleventh World Games 2022 competition will begin in Birmingham, Alabama United States, where 3600 athletes from more than 100 countries will participate in this biggest event. Artistic Roller Skating is one of the sports programs to take place at the 2022 World Games, which was originally scheduled to take place in July 2021, but due to the unprecedented Covid-19 pandemic has to be rescheduled for July 2022.
The program will begin with the first qualifying round of men, women, and couple dances on July 16, 2022, at the CrossPlex venue.
Roller Sports at the World Games 2022
Earlier, the Roller Sports event was conducted through the use of human-powered vehicles run through various pushing techniques or gravity. At the World Games 2022, Roller Sports games are divided into three disciplines:
1. Artistic Skating
2. Inline Hockey
3. Speed Skating
It is one of the roller skating game forms, done on the roller skates. Artistic Skating is a challenging sports program, where athletes have to undergo rigorous training, dynamic strength, and endurance.
Artistic Skating at the World Games consists of two disciplines.
• Free Skating: In this form, athletes perform skating with jumps, spins, and footwork on the set of music.
• Couples Dance: Couples Dance as the name suggests is conducted by two skaters executing lifting and dancing on the floor to the tune of music.
In this sports program Roller Sports, athletes use a hockey stick on the inline skates, shoot a plastic pluck, dragging successfully into opponents’ goals to score points. A total of five players, along with the goalie from one team, where players skate across the floor trying to control the puck and score a goal against the opponent team.
Speed Skating form is all about racing on the in-line skates performed on two tracks, Track and Road. The inline track consists of palindrome with a circumference of 200 m banked curves. In the road race, players contest on a regular pavement marked by multiple pylons.
At the 2017 World Games championship, Aria Fabriana from Colombia won 3 gold medals and 2 silver medals in the speed skating format.
